Tumor Specific Electroporation™ (TSE) is an advanced form of electrochemotherapy. Like traditional electrochemotherapy, it combines chemotherapy with precisely controlled electrical pulses that temporarily increase the permeability of tumor cell membranes, allowing the chemotherapy medication to enter cancer cells more effectively. TSE uses an enhanced delivery approach designed to distribute the electrical field more effectively throughout the tumor, helping improve treatment coverage while minimizing effects on surrounding healthy tissues. This allows for a stronger local effect of chemotherapy while limiting exposure to the rest of the body.

TSE may be used to treat a variety of accessible solid tumors, including mast cell tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and other selected cancers. It can be particularly useful for tumors that cannot be completely removed surgically, tumors located in areas where additional surgery would be difficult, or when improved local tumor control is desired following surgery. Treatment is performed under sedation or anesthesia as appropriate for the individual patient and may be used alone or as part of a multimodal treatment plan. Our oncology team will determine whether TSE is appropriate based on your pet’s tumor type, size, location, previous treatments, and overall health.
